11 November 2024

On Monday 4th November, the Company Master attended the City's Garden of Remembrance Service at St Paul's Cathedral. The Service was attended by the Lord Mayor, Sheriffs, senior representatives of the Royal British Legion, Royal Navy, Army and Air Force, Cadets from City of London schools, and Livery Company Masters. Our Master planted a wooden Token of Remembrance on behalf of the Tallow Chandlers’ Company.

Today, the Tallow Chandlers’ Company commemorated Remembrance Day with a small ceremony at the Company’s memorial plaque. Wreaths were laid by Company Master Hugh Wolley and Master Salter Piers Vacher following a short Remembrance Service in our Courtyard. Piers is related to Tallow Chandler George Vacher who died 110 years ago to the day. Conducted by Revd Canon Bill Christianson, the ceremony was attended by select Company members and staff.
