We had the great pleasure of welcoming 15 pupils from Cubitt Town Primary School, along with parents, guardians and staff, to the Hall on 18th March for the Science Fair Finals event. Pupils had been researching a variety of Science topics during British Science Week, which took place earlier in the month, and through a process of internal heats, the finalists were invited to present to a panel of ‘Dragons’ (judges) in the Court Room.
Pupils from Year 1 – Year 6 (ages 5 to 10) presented on a range of subjects, which included ‘The Colour of Taste’, ‘Lung Capacity’, ‘Conductivity’ and ‘Changing Pressure’, and all demonstrated excellent research, presentation and communication skills. The children gave the judges practical demonstrations, an insight into coding, an opportunity to learn new scientific facts, and a chance to drink strange-looking liquids!
The winners were awarded certificates by the Master: Bronze winners (in Year 1) for ‘Paper Aeroplane Size’; Silver winner (in Year 5) for ‘Light and Concentration’; Gold winner (Year 4) for ‘Magnetic Coding’.
